Cinnamon from Ceylon

Enjoy the taste of premium organic cinnamon from Ceylon. Real cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) is native to Ceylon where growing conditions are ideal. Ceylon cinnamon has a delicate flavor and is more aromatic compared to Chinese cinnamon (cassia).

Naturally Grown, Organic
Naturally grown cinnamon is cultivated without the use of herbicides, pesticides, and other harmful chemicals. Our cinnamon comes directly from certified organic growers in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). The production, inspection and certification standards for our cinnamon producers is regulated by the National Organic Program (NOP) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Premium Grade Ceylon
Ceylon cinnamon is considered a high-quality spice compared to Chinese cinnamon (cassia). Cassia is the type you will normally find in powder form and in supplement products throughout the United States. Cassia has a stronger, more intense and oftern hotter flavor than Ceylon cinnamon.Top grade Ceylon cinnamon consists of the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum (C. zeylanicum) tree and has a fine, less dense, more crumbly texture. Ceylon powder is lighter in color and has a fresh, citrusy aroma and delicate flavor.  Learn more

Health Benefits

Super Antioxidant
Spices are the richest known source of antioxidants, based on ORAC value, and cinnamon is ranked among the top! The ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) assessment was developed by the United States Department of Agriculture to measure the ability of a substance to disarm harmful free radicals in cells. The free radical theory of aging, conceived by Denham Harman in 1956, states that organisms age because cells accumulate free radical damage over time. Since then, free radical damage within cells has been linked to many disorders. Antioxidants have been shown to prevent damage to cells caused by harmful free radicals.

Supports Healthy Blood Sugar Levels & Reduces Inflammation
In addition to the potent antioxidant benefits of cinnamon, there are a growing number of scientific studies showing cinnamon's amazing ability to support glucose metabolism and reduce joint pain. Most research has focused on cinnamon's ability to lower blood sugar levels. Researchers have identified compounds in cinnamon that increase insulin sensitivity by activating enzymes that stimulate insulin receptors.

Safe Coumarin Levels
Coumarin is a natural plant compound that can be harmful to the liver and kidneys in high concentrations. Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) contains hardly any coumarin (2-5 ppm), but Chinese cinnamon (cassia) is known to contain high levels (2,000-5,000 ppm). The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has recommended that if you frequently consume large quantities of cinnamon, you should opt for the low-coumarin Ceylon cinnamon. BfR is the scientific agency of the Federal Republic of Germany which is responsible for preparing expert reports and opinions on food safety. BfR reports to the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. Learn more
